The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is alive with creativity as Fortlandia returns for its eighth season. The annual exhibition features unique forts designed by local artists and architects, aimed at sparking children's imagination and fostering a love for nature. Running from October 4, 2025, to February 1, 2026, the family-friendly event invites visitors to explore eight custom-designed installations that blend art, nature, and fun.
Engaging Experiences Await
Visitors can look forward to marveling at diverse forts such as “Cactlandia,” a design celebrating the resilience of desert plants by Jobe Corral Architects, and “Birdhouse,” a playful structure filled with colorful interlocking birdhouses by Cushing Terrell. Each fort aims to connect children with the natural world, promoting environmental appreciation through imaginative play. Moreover, the inclusion of a fort-building center allows young visitors to unleash their own creativity, crafting forts from various provided materials, thus further enhancing their playful exploration.
